Thy Neighbor’s Keeper Program
The purpose of the program is to build awareness, support and raise funds for local non-profits and artists with a track record of community building in the District of Columbia. Thy Neighbor’s Keeper provides residents with an opportunity to connect and get acquainted with the artist and non-profit representative. DC Conscious & Cafe accomplishes this by hosting monthly Chat and Chews and fundraisers. We donate all funds raised (excluding expenses associated with organizing the fundraiser) to the featured artist and non-profit. This month's participants are:

Fasil Dawit
A DC based artist, Fasil Dawit was born in Ethiopia and relocated to DC in 1988. Fasil has been painting since the age of 10, and was encouraged by his parents and the Emperor Haile Selassie to pursue his childhood passion. In Washington, DC, his paintings can be seen in the community at: Paul L. Dunbar High School Library; Ben's Chili Bowl on U St NW; H.D. Woodson High School, and other places through-out the U.S., including the historic Abyssinian Baptist Church in New York and the Reggae Center at the Wild Hare in Chicago.
